Steve Skibba is a senior multi-media creative marketing specialist, or as they used to say, a Creative Director and Copywriter. Over the course of his career, he’s had the privilege of being hired by--and learning from--some of the most respected names in the business: Dan Wieden, Peter McHugh, and Erik Vervroegen.
From thinking up names for chicken dipping sauces (his actual first assignment) to writing static banners, digital & print campaigns and Super Bowl commercials, Steve has created effective work in every media. He’s developed breakthrough campaigns in every category for some of the world’s most esteemed brands, such as Nike, Merck Pharmaceuticals, Accenture, Diet Coke, McDonald’s, Adidas, and Nissan.
This experience has helped Steve master the art of writing and concepting in many different voices: humorous, sophisticated, honest, direct, emotional, street-wise, technical, and more. Steve’s multi-faceted approach to writing allows him to quickly hone-in on whatever direction is right for a client.
It’s a skill that’s helped fuel his winning new business track record. Steve developed the lead campaign and was a significant contributor on many successful pitches, including Starbucks, California Tourism, Diet Coke, Akamai Videogames, ExxonMobil, FX Network, Thomson-Reuters, Audi Europe, and Mitsubishi Motors.
His work has been recognized by every major national and international award show, including Cannes, The One Show, The Effies, The London International Awards, the Interactive One Show, NY Art Director’s Club, the Andys, the Clios, Communication Arts, the New York Festivals Global awards, the Financial Communication Society Awards, Archive Magazine, and Graphis. But his proudest moment was the day Dan Wieden slapped him on the back and said, “Fuck, man, can you write!"
When not developing engaging and market-moving advertising, he enjoys performing music and tracking down insanely rare vintage vinyl.
